How to Properly Measure For Your Barn Door
You can now measure for your barn door with confidence with our simple guide. At the end of the day, it’s really about your door preference and the space that your barn door will be living. We hope that this guide will help quickly answer any of your questions while you are measuring.
HOW TO MEASURE FOR BARN DOOR HEIGHT:
> The first step is to measure from the floor to the top of your door jam. If you have casing or door moulding around your frame, please take your measurement to the top of the framing.
> The next step is to use that height, or add 1/2 in to 1 in above that number for your barn door height. Using this height will allow for an easier barn door installation with most hanging hardware kits.
HOW TO MEASURE FOR BARN DOOR WIDTH:
> The first step is to measure from left to right of your door jam. If you have casing or door moulding around your frame, please take your measurement to the width of the framing as you’ll want to ensure that it is covered.
> The next step is to add 2 in to 4 in beyond that number for your barn door width. We want to ensure that your new rustic barn door will cover the entire space.
> FOR A BATHROOM: We typically recommend adding 4 inches to 6 inches to the width to ensure a proper overlap on both sides to ensure additional privacy. Remember…bigger is better.
